Definition of a Desi

The term “ desi” originates from Sanskrit meaning “from one’s own country”. It is used by South Asian’s who live abroad, to show recognition and form a bond (urbandictionary). People who are desi originate from countries as India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The languages they speak includes Hindi, Urdu, Bengali and sometimes Punjabi as well.
A large number of desi’s follow religion’s as Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism and a short number of desi’s include following Christianity.
